The new Google platform has released four new security features in the Linux kernel.
Google has reported on four new features coming with Android 8.0 Oreo via changes in the Linux kernel that is the basis of the mobile operating system.
T Odos devices with Android 8.0 Oreo will be benefited from these developments , explained Sami Tolvanen, senior software engineer Security Team Android.
Changes to the kernel will help developers who are responsible for building hardware drivers on Android to detect security bugs before releasing them.
Google says that 85 percent of the vulnerabilities in the Android kernel were due to bugs from the drivers provided by the manufacturers.
It has also been reported that with Oreo it is the first time Android adds kernel protection to kernel space design random direction (KASLR), which makes it more complicated for attackers to exploit the kernel remotely .
On the other hand, it also launches the so-called ‘Privileged Access Never Emulation’, which prevents the kernel from directly accessing the user’s memory space , and forces developers to turn to user copy functions.
