The global server market has grown both in units and in revenues during the months of July, August and September, according to the count for Q3 published by IDC.
During the months of July, August and September of 2017, the server market has registered increases in the number of units sold and also in the income received.
IDC reveals that, in total, 2.67 million servers were distributed , which means an increase of 11.1%, and 17,000 million dollars were obtained , which is the same as saying that revenues improved by 19.9% year-on-year during the third quarter of the year.
HPE and Dell are the most prominent vendors. Both companies tie in the first place in the list of units sent, each one making almost a fifth of the market (18.8%). By revenue, HPE / New H3C Group leads with a 19.5% share (just over 3.3 billion dollars) and Dell is close to 18.1% (close to 3.1 billion dollars).
“The server market has strengthened recently after several slow quarters , in which a large part of the market waited for Purley and EPYC launches,” says IDC .
“While demand from cloud service providers has supported overall market performance,” adds the consultancy, “other areas of the server market are also now beginning to show growth.”
