The new laptops governed by the 8th generation of Intel Core processors are really light and powerful. But there is more, much more.

Yesterday we attended the traditional Intel Showroom that was held at the Luchana Theaters of Madrid. In this meeting, the manufacturer shows the technology that users can find in stores during the Christmas campaign, so it is an interesting thermometer of what will happen in the most important period for manufacturers and sellers.

This year coincides with the launch of the 8th generation of Intel Core processors within the family of notebook chips and 2 in 1 . Its design increases up to 40% the performance of the previous generation. To give us an idea, it would be double the power if you compare these microprocessors with those of a PC of 5 years ago. In addition, being manufactured with technology of 14 nm (later the first will arrive in encapsulation of 10 nm), reduce the energy consumption in spite of being governed by four nuclei.

The first teams with Intel Core 8th generation were presented during the last IFA Berlin and from September will begin to be available in the specialized stores. During the Intel Showroom we had the opportunity to see them in action. Models such as Acer Nitro 5 Spin , Dell XPS 13 , Dell Inspiron 7000 , HP Specter x360 or Lenovo Yoga 920 are the first to show off this technology from Intel.

Intel goes beyond the PC

It is not exactly a new strategy, but it is true that Intel confirms once again the change of course that it decided to give a couple of years ago and which we have already spoken on several occasions. Since then, he has decided to focus his innovation efforts in such strategic areas as Artificial Intelligence , Virtual Reality , 5G and  Automatic Driving .

As usual, Carlos Clerencia, CEO of Intel for Spain and Portugal , during the presentation to the media presented these trends and the advances that the manufacturer is giving them. The last two, 5G and automatic driving will go hand in hand for adoption as autonomous cars will require low latencies and reduced response times while sending and receiving huge amounts of data for this technology to be reliable enough.

Virtual reality is an area that grows as the days go by. However, the company goes far beyond the video game sector , where this type of technology enjoys great acceptance. Virtual reality (or mixed reality, as it prefers to call it Intel) will be extended in fields as critical as health. Very soon we will see doctors perform operations on patients making use of it, for example.

And what about artificial intelligence, a world that makes its way in each and every one of the sectors that we know today. According to Intel, the application of artificial intelligence will transform all the organizations and areas in which the human being moves.

Another notable initiative during the Intel Showroom was Intel Optane memory technology , which is currently available in 16GB and 32GB external modules but will gradually be extended to other consumer electronics and computer components . This first generation, external storage unit, is capable of running applications and games up to 67% faster than with conventional disks.
