Currently, it is the leader in the business internet, with 52% of the installed base of connected devices.
Today, the Internet of Things (IoT) business represents the largest part of the installed base of connected devices. Their participation is 52% , according to data from Strategy Analytics.
But, although it has been the key segment for the past few years, it seems that the smart home will begin to exhibit its strength over the next decade . If by the end of 2017 there will be some 20,000 million connected devices and IoT deployed around the world, in the next four years we will have to add 10,000 million more. And, thanks to the smart home, in the decade of the 20s will be promoted growth to reach 50,000 million.
In fact, by 2021 smart home devices should already be ahead of smartphones as part of the connected machines and the internet of things.
“The original connected device, the PC,” adds David Mercer, senior analyst at Strategy Analytics , “now accounts for only 5% of the total market, illustrating how the internet has permeated so many aspects of our lives.”
Strategy Analytics foresees that throughout this year the internet of things will end up growing by 17%.
